Residue

Atmospheres

Atmospheres explores the quiet intensity of surface, light, and time—where photographic fragments dissolve into painterly fields. Built from layered images of scratched glass, ink stains, and other overlooked materials, these compositions are constructed on rippled, tactile canvas to give the image physical depth and presence. Here, photography moves toward painting—gesture becomes diffuse, and light feels internal rather than cast. Influenced by the unfinished works of J.M.W. Turner, this series embraces ambiguity, fluid space, and the tension between clarity and dissolution. Each image invites slow looking, offering no clear subject but instead an unfolding field of traces and impressions. Atmospheres is not about representation, but perception—about how something broken, weathered, or forgotten can still hold presence. These works form the meditative core of Residue, encouraging viewers to slow down, to enter a space where the ordinary is transformed and the overlooked becomes luminous.

Compositions crafted from residue, light, and time—where photography dissolves into painting and overlooked fragments become fields for reflection.
